Betting sites & exchanges
An exchange is a different kind of business from a bookmaker: customers bet against one another, and the operator holds a betting intermediary licence from the Gambling Commission instead of acting as the opposing side. Licence category is therefore the first thing worth checking.
Exchanges come first here, then spread betting platforms, then the bookmakers set beside them: new and independent bookies, and the high-limit and no-limit sites. Comparison tables for each type sit in separate articles.
Who is licensed is settled by the Commission’s public register. A .com address is what licensed operators use, so it proves nothing by itself. On stakes, no statutory cap in sports betting is established; every operator fixes its own maximums.
